Dogo Sardesco History
The Dogo Sardesco was developed in the villages of Sardinia as an all around working dog. The Dogo Sardesco is a widely believed to be a type of Molosser or Mastiff, although its relationship to other members of that family is uncertain. his is an old breed, clay statutes depicting pictures with this breed are already found out from 3000 many years ago. Dogo Sardesco breed is used as a guard dog, livestock guardian dog, working dog and for dog fighting. Today, while the Dogo Sardesco has attained an underground popularity as a working and companion dog, the breed remains rather rare outside of its native Italy. It was traditionally assumed that the Dogo Sardesco was either descended from the Neapolitan Mastiff and Cane Corso, or that it at least came from the same root stock.
Dogo Sardesco Description
The Dogo Sardesco is rarely over 24 inches in height, but there are no set size limits for the breed so a great variety of sizes is seen. The Dogo Sardesco is a brachycephalic molossoid. This rustic well boned breed has a muscular and athletic body. A Dogo Sardesco generally measures from 56 to 68 cm at the withers and weighs from 30 to 45 kg. A Dogo Sardesco’s tight skin is covered with a short, thick and smooth coat. Coat color ranges from red, gray, black or brindle. The head of the Dogo Sardesco is relatively large for the size of its body, but not excessively so. The head is usually relatively square but individual dogs have very different head shapes. The eyes of the Dogo Sardesco are round-in-shape, amber-in-color, and relatively small-in-size.
Dogo Sardesco Temperament
The Dogo Sardenesco is highly valued for its aggressive temperament. The dog was specifically developed to be a watchdog that will protect livestock and property. Best known for its loyal and protective nature, the Dogo Sardesco is willing to do anything necessary in order to protect its owner and property. This is an intelligent breed but it is also stubborn. Obedience training can be a challenge as the dog would grow bored with repetitive exercises. This is a very rare breed, however it has already found itself on breed banning lists due to the aggressive nature.
Dogo Sardesco Health
While the Dogo Sardesco is typically known as a healthy and hearty breed, they do suffer from a few health problems, including: hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, likeliness to develop cancer, entropian – folding inward of the eye lid, ectropian – folding outward of the eye lid, primary lens luxation – dislocation of the lens, cherry eye, obesity, and bloat.

The Lifespan of Dogo Sardesco is about 10 to 12 years.
Dogo Sardesco Care
Due to its stubborn, independent, confident, and dominant nature, the Dogo Sardesco can prove quite challenging to train.
